Salisbury, Md. - The 12th-ranked softball team (7-5) traveled to Salisbury University (Md.) for a pair of game Saturday. The Bombers rallied past the host Sea Gulls 6-5 Saturday morning before falling 9-4 to College of New Jersey in the afternoon.
The Salisbury game saw the Bombers engineer a come-from-behind victory. Ithaca trailed 3-2 entering the seventh inning, but with one out the Bombers loaded the bases and set the stage for senior Nicole Cade (Beaverton/Portland, Ore.). Cade came through with a three-RBI double, scoring freshman Kait Dolan (Victor/Farmington) and seniors Erica Cutspec (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) and Amanda Kowalsick (Riverhead/Jamesport). Cade later scored on a RBI single by freshman Allison Greaney (John F. Kennedy/Iselin, N.J.), giving the Bombers a 6-3 lead.
The Sea Gulls scored two in the bottom of the seventh, but senior pitcher Carly Myers (Claremont Secondary/Victoria, British Columbia) forced the final batter into a groundout, ending the game and earning Myers her fourth win of the season.
The second contest of the day saw the Bombers fall into a 7-0 hole after three innings. Ithaca rallied with a four-run sixth inning to pull to within 7-4, but could get no closer. Freshman Brittany Lillie (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) made her collegiate pitching debut, throwing two scoreless innings.
